Happy pride, comrades! We’re proud to announce that our fifth magazine issue is about to be sent off to the printers. To do that, we need your help: we’re aiming to raise at least $10,000 by the end of June to cover production costs. Can you throw us the cost of one overpriced drink?

Our fifth issue is truly the strongest yet. We cover lesbian separatism, the Rainbow Coalition, anti-gay “witch hunts” in Uganda, the relation of sexual difference to the communist maxim of equality, and more. Donating at least $25 this month will ensure we’re able to pay contributors, the printer, distributor and other costs. While this is not a pre-order campaign, if you donate at the $50 level we’ll make sure you get one of the first copies of the issue once it’s back from the printers in October.

Publishing five issues is something very few projects like ours ever do. All of this has been a labor of love, and we are proud to have found our readers. But to make it work, we need your support. Pinko is an all-volunteer operation, and in addition to ever-inflating costs of supplies and services, we attempt to strike a dignified balance in how we pay contributing artists and writers. Every dollar raised beyond our initial goal goes toward general operating costs and will lay the groundwork for Issue 6.
